Singer. He made his debute in Folkets Park (People's Park), Luleå, 1952 with the band Swingers. His first album was released the year after - "Dä ä kärlek" (1953), but his real breakthrough was in 1959 with the song "Nu tändas åter ljusen". Rapidly he became one of Sweden's most popular singers, and he was influenced by singers like Jim Reeves and Perry Como. His repertoire was mainly from that genre, and he often sang international hits by artists like Hank Williams, Frank Sinatra and Ray Charles. In 1961 he was appointed "Sweden's most popular singer". Altogether he had 42 hits on the Swedish charts during his career, and he represented Sweden four times in the Eurovision Song Contest. Some of his greatest hits were ""Minns du den sommar", "Vi ska gå hand i hand genom livet du och jag", "Han måste gå - tala närmre, håll telefon' intill din mun". He kept on singing in the 1970s, but his career was ruined by problems with his mouth, due to amalgam poisoning ('oral galvanism'). During that period he also suffered from cancer, which eventually shortened his life at the age of 54.
