Irene Lois Luba, 83, passed away on Dec. 4, 2005 in Chico, Calif. She was born Nov. 24, 1922 to Albert and Yvonne Richards of Iron Mountain, Michigan.
In 1945 Irene and her husband Edward moved to Orland. They managed the Palms Hotel and 5 years later they purchased the Royal Hotel both in Orland. Irene opened "Irene's Kut-N-Kurl" Beauty shop until she retired. Irene was a member of the St. Dominic's Alters Society and Business Women's Association. She enjoyed craft's, shopping, spending time at the cabin in Mill Creek and sharing time with her family, grandkids and great-grandkids.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Edward of Orland; daughter and son-in-law Clarice and Bill Simons of Orland; grandchildren, Frank Simons, Billy Simons and wife Kelly of Orland, Clarissa Lopez and husband Joe of Corning; great-grandchildren, Vince and Craig Simons and Larissa, Heather and Tiffany Lopez and sisters, Clare of Michigan and Rosemary of Arizona.
Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005 at F.D. Sweet & Son Mortuary, 825 A St., Orland, from 4-8 P.M. Rosary and Mass will be Friday, Dec. 9, 2005 at St. Dominic's Catholic Church, 822 A St., Orland at 11 A.M. Interment will be at the Catholic Cemetery, Orland. Family request memorial contributions to Just for Children of Glenn County, C/O F.D. Sweet & Son Mortuary, Orland.
