Tommy Joe Thompson, age 68, of Greenbrier, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2014 at his home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 2pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield.



Burial will follow in the Bellwood Cemetery with Paul Thompson, Allen Thompson, Corey Thompson, Colton Morris, Clint Morris, Matthew Thompson, Keith Morris, Devin Thompson and Mitch Pope serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 19, 2014 from 4-8pm and again Saturday morning from 11am until the hour of service.


Mr. Thompson was born May 29, 1946 in Woodbury, TN to the late James Thompson and Mrs. Vida Vinson Thompson. He was a fireman for the Metro Nashville Fire Department for 38 years and was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.


In addition to his father Mr. Thompson is preceded in death by his daughter, Kristee Morris and his brother, Wayne Thompson.


In addition to his mother, Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Linda Allen Thompson; sons, Paul (Karen) Thompson of Greenbrier, Allen Thompson of Greenbrier and Corey (Kristen) Thompson of Hendersonville; son-in-law, Keith Morris of Adams; brother, Don Thompson of Pleasant View; 10 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.


Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of these arrangements.
