Astronomer. Born in California and educated in Europe, she graduated from the University of Paris in 1886 with a degree in Science and went to work at the Paris Observatory. By 1891, she was appointed the Director of the Bureau of Measurements at the Paris Observatory, a post she held until 1901 when she resigned from the Observatory. She would officially receive her doctorate in the Sciences in 1893. The Klumpke-Roberts Award is named in her honor and awarded for work in the field of Astronomy.
