"Oklahoma," Melvin married Madeline Elizabeth Murray after her
first Husband, George Murray died in 1946.
Melvin was the only Grandfather that Lewis and Larry Campbell ever knew, being Grandsons of Madeline, sons of Pearl Elizabeth Murray Campbell and Guy Campbell, born in 1949 and 1952 after George Murray had died
of long suffered respiatory complications.
Melvin treated the boys as his own and was wonderfully loving to them, taking them on trips to San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay/Baywood Park where he was building he and Madeline's dream retirement home beginning in 1954 when he was diagnosed with multiple mialoma and leukemia, passing away in 1959 with dreams unfulfilled after a stay in the Veterans Hospital in Sepulveda, California.
