Sallie Edith Flowers Byrd

Sallie, 52, of Florence, SC, was born on November 4, 1958, in Leland, NC, and passed away on October 23, 2010, in Timmonsville, SC. She was preceded in death by her parents William Lacy "Bill", of Florence, SC, and Helen Jacoby Hash Flowers, of Bourbon County, Kentucky, who were both active duty in WWI. Bill was in the Army and Helen was an Army nurse, so they were known to move around whenever Bill or Helen got reassigned to different Army bases. After her parents retired, the family settled in her father's hometown, Florence, SC, to raise their 3 children, Bobby, Sallie, and April in the local public schools.

Surviving is Sallie's only sister, April Flowers Thomas, and her brother, Bobby Flowers. She was previously married to Colonel Byrd, whose whereabouts are unknown, too. Sallie also leaves behind her only daughter, Laura Byrd Leonhardt, and also her only son, Bryan Byrd, 4 grandchildren, and 2 nephews. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched throughout the years.

*****************
Sallie is interned in Thompson Cemetery, on Chinaberry Rd, in the Mars Bluff Community area, east of Florence, SC, about a mile from where both her parents, paternal grandparents, and some aunts, and cousins are buried in the Friendship Methodist Church Cemetery, which is also in the Mars Bluff area on Old Marion Highway, in Florence, SC.

*****************
Note: Sallie had one older brother, BOBBY FLOWERS, who left the area where his parents and sisters lived in Florence, SC, and was not heard from for least 20 years at this point. I have no other information about his full name or where he resides or if he has passed on. So the search is still on to connect my personal and best friend, April's and her older sister, Sallie, who was also a good friend, with all of their family members. Thanks for any help from other contributors.
