Bobby was a member of the Ringgold United Methodist Church where he was active in the Men's Club and worked with the Children's Celebration of Christmas. He volunteered helping with Nourishing Children in Catoosa (NCIC) and in earlier years he helped to coach youth league sports. Bobby was an avid bee keeper and was known to everyone as "the honey man".
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Gordy Sr. and Juanita Bell Gordy. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara Copeland Gordy of Ringgold, GA.; four children, Greg Gordy of Ringgold, GA., Glen Gordy (Meri) of Marietta, GA., Michale Poor (Robert) of Woodstock, GA., and James Gordy (Ashley) of Baltimore, MD.; three grandchildren, Hannah, Ashley and Brian; and Markus Axelsson and Family of Shippensburg, PA.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the Ringgold United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Gordy Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-9 P.M. and Thursday until 11:30 A.M., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Ringgold United Methodist Church Building Fund or to NCIC. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home Wallis-Stewart Chapel Ringgold, Georgia.
