Minnie Gertrude “Gertie” Moore Matthews Smith, 90, passed away Friday, December 5, 2014 at Hock Family Pavilion. She was born in Durham, daughter of the late William Hardy Moore and the late Sarah Jones Moore.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Warren Matthews, Sr. and daughter, Anne Matthews Clayton.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her sons, Warren Matthews, Jr. (Gelonda), Bill Matthews (Monica), Steve Matthews; daughter, Ellen Matthews O’Briant (Phil); sister, Lelia Hill; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 3 p.m., Sunday at McMannen United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
