Corp "CCC" in 1935 for one year, stationed at Neehi, Utah. After receiving his discharge he returned home to North Dakota.
In 1936 Emil went to Minnesota and worked as a farm labor worker. In 1940 he met his wife, Katherine Andel and they were married Oct. 9, 1940 in a country church near Breckenridge, MN. In 1942 they moved back to ND to farm. In Sep. 1956 they moved to Lodi, CA. Emil worked as a custodian for a Methodist Church in Lodi for 13 years and than for Mickie Grove Museum for 11 years. After retiring he worked for Goehring's Meat Co. part time. In Lodi they were members of the first Baptist Church.
In 1999 Emil and Katherine moved to Moreno Valley, CA to be near their daughter, Elaine. After living for 2 years in their own apartment they moved into Agape Care Home in Moreno Valley, CA where Emil passed away on May 20, 2003.
At the time of death Emil was survived by his 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Katherine, one sister and several brothers.
Graveside services were held on May 23, 2003 at Olivewood Cemetery, Riverside, CA with Pastor David Schilling, his son-in-law officiating.
