MARSHALL - Stephen Douglas Adams, 77, of Marshall, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013.

Mr. Adams was born January 26, 1936 in Madison County. Douglas proudly served in the US Navy, retired from the Pipe Fitters Union and was a welding teacher at AB Tech. His favorite pastimes were football, restoring "Hot Rods" with his sons and friends, picking at Charles Allen's Junkyard.

Doug "Boots" was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Mirlie Adams; infant daughter, Crystal Adams; sister, Fannie Sizemore; brothers, Arnold, Ronald, Ervin, Wayne and Nolan Adams.

Surviving are the mother of his children, Joyce Thomas; his children, Steve Adams (Willa), Stephanie Adams (Will), Tina Adams, and Michael Adams (Lisa); grandchildren, Stephen Adams II, (Ashley), Jimmy Winker (Stephanie), Christina Winker, Destiny Hamlin (Chris), Kevin Fox and Deana Revis (Bobby); great-grandchildren, Jaylyn, Valerie, Hank and Dylan; a sister, Faye Adams; brothers, Garland, Ward, Andrew (Annette) and Neal Adams (Joan); several nieces and nephews; extended family and friends at Adams Shop at Hickory Flats.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2013 in the chapel of Madison Funeral Home with Reverend Sam Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Adams Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Jack Jones, Danny Garrett, Darren Chandler, Charles Allen, James Roberts (Buddy Boy) and Jason Rice.
