June Mary Edwards, age 85, of Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 21st, 2016 at Union County Long Term Care. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Burgiss and Drucilla Watts McCurry and wife of the late Herman Edwards. She was also preceded in death by her sisters: Milam Williams, Ruby Wilson and Trula Cole and her brothers: Sam, Bachus, Tilman and Fred McCurry. Mary was a member of Egypt Ramsey Town Fire Department, where her husband served as Chief and enjoyed cooking and sewing.

Left to cherish her memories are her sister, Gladys Erwin of Erwin, TN; brother, J.C. McCurry and wife, Dorothy, of Johnson City, TN; special nieces: Barbara Pate, Karen Randolph and husband, Gerald, all of Burnsville and Linda Vincil of Erwin, TN; special nephews: Gerald Phillips and wife, Kathey, Clifton McCurry and wife, Trudy, all of Burnsville and Nick Erwin and wife, Debbie, of Erwin, TN. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 28th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Clifton McCurry will officiate. Burial will follow in the Watts Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 prior to the service at the funeral home.
