Vaudeville and radio actress, whose stage name was Charlyne (or Charline or Charlayne) Courtland.

Her first husband was New York native Franklin A. Plummer, with whom she had two children. Her second was widower John Gellatly, an eccentric art collector whom she married in Harford County, Maryland on 24 September 1929. Only afterward did he inform her that he had no money, having sold his Manhattan townhouse and donated his substantial collection to the Smithsonian. They never co-habited, and she spent years in an ultimately futile effort to contest his philanthropic bequest.
