A native of the Netherlands, he was born November 18, 1884, a son of the late Adrian and Barbara Verhage. At the age of 18 he came to Sheboygan.
On May 21, 1913, he married Miss Hattie Borninkhof also of Sheboygan at the Hope Reformed Church.
He was employed at Kohler Co. for 33 years and was supervisor of the tool and dye department at the time of retirement in January, 1952.
Mr. Verhage was a member of the Hope Reformed Church, served the church as an elder and deacon, served on the churches building committee, and was a former choir member of the church.
He also was a member of the Kohler Quarter Century Club.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Dr. Adrian Verhage of Green Bay and Roger Verhage of Northridge, CA; one daughter, Mrs George (Dorothy) Mohr of Sheboygan; 10 Grandchildren; four sisters, Cornelia, Minnie, Barbara and Marie; and one brother, Adrian, all of the Netherlands.
Two brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held on Monday, January 30, 1967 at Hope Reformed Church with the Rev. Harold Colenbrander, pastor, officiating. Burial took place in Wildwood Cemetery in Sheboygan.
