Former Hermitage women worked as bookkeeper.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas--- Irene A. Casedy Rankin, San Antonio, formerly of Cassady Road in Hermitage, died at 5;02 A.M. Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, in St. Luke's Hospital, San Antonio, following a heart attack. She was 88.

Mrs. Rankin was born April 26, 1922, in Hickory Township, Mercer County, near Clarksville, as the only child of Albert and Edith McDowell Casedy.
She graduated from Hickory High School, Hermitage, and attended the former Clarksville Methodist Church.
Irene married Harry Rankin of Uniontown/Washington, Pa., on Dec. 14, 1946. They had seven children and lived for many years on Cassady Road in Hermitage. They later resided at Treasure Lake, DuBois, Pa., for about 10 years, then retired to San Antonio in 1984.
While in Hermitage, Irene was employed as a bookkeeper at Barris Co. in West Middlesex, and the the former Flowers Lumber Co., Sharon.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; as well as her husband Harry Rankin, and her daughter, Martha Moldovan, both of whom died in 2008.
Survivors include: her daughters, Judith Nickols and her husband Charles, Ohio; Delinda McCarrier and her companion Ron Pethick, Texas; and Donna Thompson and her husband Keith, Pennsylvania; sons, Martin Rankin and his companion Wilma Johnson; and Gary Rankin, all of Pennsylvania; and Paul Rankin, Texas; 20 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Calling hours and service: Calling hours and a memorial service for family and friends were held Wednesday (11-17-10) in MISSION PARK FUNERAL CHAPELS NORTH, 340 Cherry Ridge, San Antonio, Texas.

A local memorial service for family and friends will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (11-27-10) in the chapel of Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage, Pa.

INTERMENT: Hillcrest Memorial Park.
