Ruth Virginia Ross was born May 13, 1916 in Lincoln, Arkansas, the daughter of Bill and Mary Jane (Ozbum) Childress. She entered into rest on November 14, 2014 in Joplin, Missouri at the age of 98, following a sudden illness. Ruth lived most of her life in the Granby and Neosho area. She owned and operated the West Side Market and then worked as a nurses' aide at Sale Memorial Hospital. She was an avid Cardinal Fan and had made hand embroidered quilts and tablecloths for all of her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Silver Moon Full Gospel Church. Ruth and Eddie Calvin Ross were married on May 14, 1937 in Barry County, Missouri and he preceded her in death in 1965.
