William Cecil Purcell, 92, of Caneyville died Friday, June 7, 2013, at Springview Health and Rehab in Leitchfield.He was born July 4, 1920, in Short Creek, the son of the late Clarence Ray and Ona Dennison Purcell.He was a farmer, who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and hunting ginseng. He was a Baptist by faith, and member of Short Creek Masonic Lodge.
He was a a Baptist , who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and hunting ginseng.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Carter Purcell; a son, Jim Purcell and his wife, June, all of Caneyville; five grandchildren, Tracey Elmore, Darren Purcell, Scott Purcell, Allen Tabor, and Jamie Tabor; five great-grandchildren, Shelby, Seth, and Sophia Elmore, and Robert and Ethan Purcell
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Clarence Edward Purcell; and a brother, Malcolm Purcell.
The funeral will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 9 at Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Chester Shartzer will officiate. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Sunday until the service.
Expressions of sympathy can take the form of donations to Hosparus of Central KY or to New Hope Cemetery fund.
