She was born Sept. 14, 1939, in Austin, to LaVerne and Maie (Monson) Greenman. Barb grew up in Austin and graduated from Austin High School in 1958. She married Lawrence A. Wurst on Jan. 5, 1962; they were later divorced. Barb lived in Blooming Prairie from 1965 until 1981 when she moved to Austin. She was a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell from 1957 until 1980. She loved to shop, do latchwork, travel and spend time with her grandchildren. Barbara had a butterfly and angel collection.
Survivors include her mother, Maie Hoyer, of Blooming Prairie, Minn.; one son, Larry (Geraldine) Wurst, of Blooming Prairie, Minn.; three grandchildren: Rachel, Elizabeth and Matthew; aunt, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friend, Gary Coonradt, of Austin.
She was preceded in death by her father, LaVerne Greenman; her brother, Donald Greenman; and her stepfather, Ervin Hoyer.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2006, at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with The Rev. Heidi Heimgartner officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Oakwood Cemetery, Austin.
