Donald R. Diven, age 78, of Erie, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2013, surrounded by his family, at the Erie Veterans Administration Medical Center. He was born in Mt. Union, Pa., March 26, 1934, the son of the late Donald S. and Arley (Norris) Diven.

Donald served with the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He had been the branch manager for Interstate Vending Company, and later, was a manager at Parker White Metal, retiring in 1990.

Don was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, American Legion in Fairview, and VFW Post 470. He was member of the Traveling Grandpa's Bowling League, a former member of the Erie Computer Club, past president of the Stroke Club at Health South, as well as being a volunteer there. Don was a volunteer stroke patient for Gannon University. He was a member of the NRA, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Connie (Sipior) Diven; four daughters, Dawn Marie Martin, and her former spouse, Kenneth of Erie and Sandra Ann Knittel, and her husband George, of Millcreek. Diane Lynn Murphy, and her husband, Matthew, of Harborcreek, and Brenda Sue Gryncewicz, and her husband Michael, of Erie; 11 grandchildren, Michael, Jamie and Christopher Martin, Jennifer Yeager, Melissa and Andrew Knittel. Mark, David and Nicole Murphy. Ashley and Brandon Gryncewicz. 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Linda Kelly, and her husband Erwin of Three Springs, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the Brugger Funeral Homes and Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard, Friday 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday at Christ United Methodist Church, 2615 West 32nd St. from 2 p.m. until time of services at 3 p.m. followed by full military honors. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
