John had been a resident of the State Hospital in Morganton, NC for more than 22 years. He "fell backwards to the floor as he was accidentally pushed by fellow patient." He sustained a hip fracture from the fall which was a contributing factor in his death.
His mother and father are also buried here in the Big Ivy Cemetery.
