Samuel Lathion Simmons, 70, of Ash, NC died Thursday, October 30, 2014.
Born in Brunswick County on October 11, 1944, he was a son of the late Anson Chaddie and Mildred Smith Simmons. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife Betty Lou Edwards Simmons. Prior to his retirement, he owned and operated Simmons Logging Company and was a member of the National Forestry Association.
Surviving are his son Ricky Simmons, and wife Kathy of Ash, NC; two daughters, Carol Britt and husband Donald of Lumberton, NC; Tammy Dees and husband Patrick of Ash, NC; sisters, Estalene McLamb of Salemburg, NC; Betty Merle Willetts of Leland, NC; Yvonne Clemmons of Ash; his grandchildren, Paige Britt, Jessie Edwards, Madelyn Britt, Hannah Dees, Cameron Britt, Brianna Simmons, William Simmons and Grayson Dees.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 2, 2014 in New Britton Baptist Church by The Reverend Stephen Nobles and The Reverend Sterling Sarvis. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM, Saturday at the funeral home.
