Mary Eliza Clark Porter was a daughter of Isaac Sylvester Porter and his wife Emeline Higby (Dennis) Porter of Porter Hollow. She was the granddaughter of Benjamin Porter (1763-1828) who is buried in Routt-Wells Cemetery, and his wife Elizabeth (Casey) Porter who is buried in Texas. They were pioneers, having settled in Lincoln County in 1809.

The Porter family records Eliza's birth year as 1847 but her death certificate lists her birth year as 1848. Her death certificate also states that she was buried in Gum Springs Cemetery on 14 July 1928, the day following her death.

Eliza married Thomas Richard Pickett (1846-1919) on 12 Nov 1868. They were the parents of Laura, Charlie R.M.M, I.L.E.M., Idella Bell, Isaac W.F. "Ike", Jesse Edgar Sr., Elizabeth, and Mary Pickett.

Her obituary:

Mrs. Eliza Pickett, aged 79 years, died of paralysis at Lincoln Friday, July 13, 1928. For a long number of years she had been a member of the Methodist Church. Funeral service was conducted by Rev. F. M. Copeland, burial at Gum Springs. She is survived by a son and two daughters.
