On the morning of October 15, 2014, Carl was struck and killed while walking to his hotel from a late dinner. Carl was 39 years old.
Carl was the loving son of Geraldine Stidham (Gerri) and William Leo Johnson (Bill). He was the devoted husband of Bobbie Lynn Preston Timm and a dedicated father to his children Trevor, 26, Alexandra (Lexi), 13, and Samantha (Sami), 7. Carl, who was named after his late Uncle Carl Stidham, was a caring brother to his sisters Reida Williams, Connie Andres and brother, Billy Lee Wilkens. He was a dear friend and "brother" to many.

Carl was born July 14, 1975 and grew up in Indianapolis, IN. He graduated from Southport High School in 1993, during which he attended Flight School and earned his pilot license. Upon graduation, he enlisted and served in the Army Reserves for six years, where he attended Army Combat Engineering School. He began his undergraduate studies at Indiana University – PUI. His love for acting and theater took him to Roosevelt University in Chicago and soon afterwards was credited for appearing in the film "My Best Friend's Wedding". He completed his bachelor degree at Empire State College.

Carl spent 20 years leading the industry in the IT Security profession, where he maintained numerous certifications, authored 8 books on the topic and was considered an expert in his field. He worked for industry leaders including Savvis, Accenture, and most recently as an associate partner at IBM.

Carl was a fun loving, happy and energetic man. He was always pursuing a new adventure, from receiving his black belt in Karate and running the Tough Mudder to most recently, his new found love of golf. Carl's smile and humor was infectious, his heart large and his dedication unwavering. He was an immensely loved mentor and teacher by his family, friends and colleagues alike. Carl positively affected everyone around him and will truly be missed.

Carl was a member of the Masons in Richardson, TX.
