ROANOKE RAPIDS — Edith Daphine Gore, 85, of Roanoke Rapids, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at Halifax Regional Hospital in Roanoke Rapids.

Born May 13, 1927, in Halifax County, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Lillie Wilson Jenkins, and the widow of the late Daniel Fletcher Gore. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids, worked many years for J.P. Stevens Mill, and was a loving and devoted person. Preceding her in death are her brothers, Emmett and Melvin Jenkins; her sisters, Velma Conner, Lois Rook and Ida Parks; her nephews, Pete Conner and Elliott Pegram; her niece, Dianne R. Williams; and great-niece, Angela Crigler.

She is survived by her nieces, Rebecca Bell and husband, Melvin, of Roanoke Rapids, and their sons, Robert and Cody. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 28, at First Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids, with the Rev. Dathan Hall and the Rev. Frank Levesque officiating. Interment was followed in Crestview Cemetery.
