John Archer, a respected resident of Georgetown, died yesterday afternoon about 5 o'clock at his residence, 1259 32d street. Death was due to hemorrhage, and was somewhat sudden, though the deceased had been ill and confined to his room for several days past. He had been in failing health for several years. From a recent attack he rallied and was able to be out again, but his improvement was only temporary.

Mr. Archer was prominently identified with Georgetown business life, and for many years conducted a provision store on 32d street. He was a native of this section, and resided here all his life. He was formerly a member of the firm of Archer and Brewer, and upon the withdrawal of the latter he took his son into the partnership with him, the business being conducted under the firm name of John Archer & Son.

The deceased survived his wife by several years, but leaves three grown children. They are Mr. James Archer, Mrs. Agnes Smith and Mrs. Margaret Lunsford. The funeral arrangements are under the direction of J.T. Clements. The interment will be at Holy Rood cemetery, but the time of the funeral has not been announced.
