Born February 22, 1958, at Good Samaritan Hospital, at 3:18am. Doctors were Van Epps and Holmes. She weighed 5 lbs, and 13 oz.; she was 20.5" long. By Five months of age, Mary Ellen weighed 15 lbs & 1 oz, and she was 25 1/2" long. Mary Ellen had blue eyes and black hair. Her father was 36 years old and her mother was 29 years old at the time of her birth.

She was named Mary Ellen for Grandmother Brewer and Grandmother Lake. She was visited by many aunts, other relatives and friends of the family. Her first outing was a visit to Dr. Carl H. Holmes office. She sat alone at 5 months of age, on 22 July.

Some of her early discoveries: Recognized her father and mother at 1 month, found her hands and face at 4 months, began reaching for objects at 3 1/2 months old, and noticed strangers at 4 months.

She was an intelligent woman, an avid reader, and very meticulous in all she did.
