She grew up in Mendota and graduated from Tranquility High School in 1971. She received her associates degree from West Hills College and worked for the State of California for 30 years. Her career with the state included The Employment Development Department, The Department of Fish and Game and The Department of Corrections.
Helen married the love of her life, Jerald in 1978. She loved her family very much. Helen & Jerald enjoyed many camping trips to Bass Lake, Mammoth Pool and Wishon Lake. She was a huge Raiders fan that never missed a game on T.V.
Helen was preceded in death by her father Mike Rios and her sister Michelle Villanueva.
She is survived by her loving husband Jerald, her sons Fernando Serna and his husband Justin, Michael and his wife Hilda, and Tony and his wife Dora; six grandchildren who she loved very much, Alissa, Andrew, Aiden, Junior, Xavier and Jasmine; her mother Eloise Rios, her brother John Rios and his wife Delia, her sister Patsy Garcia and her husband Richard, her sister Gina Quijada, her brother Michael Rios and his wife Antonia, her sister Melissa Rios Sanchez and her husband Greg; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the compassionate medical teams at Stanford and Kaiser. It has been a difficult time for all of us. Thank you to all our family & friends for your loving support and prayers.
