Mary was the daughter of John Henry Dixon and Georgiana Evans Dixon of Wilson County, NC. She was married twice. First to Wiley Howard Sumblin (the newspaper clipping has his name spelled wrong), who died in 1898, and then to Freeman Alexander. She had two sons, Wiley Howard Sumblin, of Rocky Mount, NC, and Harry Thomas Sumblin of Kent, WA, and a daughter, Mrs. Georgia (W.T.) Joyner of Rocky Mount, NC, with her first husband, and a daughter with her second husband, Freeman Alexander, named Ella Mae Alexander, of Roanoke Rapids, NC. She had 10 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren at the time of her passing.
