Roger L. "Buck" Baker, 71, of New Creek, WV, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at his home. Roger fought a long battle with ALS and cancer and was loved and will be missed by his family.

Born on March 23, 1943 at Cross, WV, he was a son of the late Hiram and Hilda (Devilbliss) Baker. He also was preceded in death by two infant brothers and three sisters, Betty Muir, Kathryn Kifer and Rayma Fickes.

Mr. Baker was employed as a coal miner with Island Creek Coal Company and Consol Mines for 33 years. He was a member of UMWA, Local # 1289 and the Mountain Top Hunting Club. Buck was a loving husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law and brother. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed woodworking and creating beautiful furniture. He was also a longtime Baltimore Orioles and WVU Mountaineers fan.
