WENDELL – Hester “Bird” Alford, 52, died Saturday. A native of Johnston County he was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Alford. He worked for Siemens for 28 years, currently for the City of Raleigh, Public Works Department in Transportation Operations Signal Department, and part time with Shelton Harley Davidson. Hester enjoyed riding his motorcycle and loved every breath of life he could squeeze in. It is hard to sum up in an obituary how very special, respected, and loved he was. Hester will be so very missed by so many people whose life he truly had an impact on.

Funeral service 11 am, Wednesday, Baptist Tabernacle Church.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his mother, Joyce Liles Alford of Wendell, siblings, B. Wayne Alford (Jane) of Wendell, Jennifer “Jenny” Butler (Gene) of Benson, niece, Beth Johnson, nephews Ryan & Cameron Hester, his much beloved girlfriend, Marianne, and dog, Zant.

Visitation 6-8 pm, Tuesday, Baptist Tabernacle Church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Triple L Seniors Food Ministry, c/o Baptist Tabernacle Church or a charity of choice
