Lenie's mother, Sarah Jane Shaw died at childbirth on Feb 15, 1922 and was buried with her stillborn child on an Indian Mound outside of Crauthersville, Missouri. Her father, James Pendleton Christopher Columbus Barton is buried at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett, Dunklin County, Missouri.

Lenie had six sisters and one brother:
