Mr. A. J. Simmons, one of Prattville's oldest and best known citizens, was found dead in bed at the home of his nephew, Mr. Sam Simmons, last Tuesday morning. He had been in failing health for some time.
Andrew Jackson Simmons was 86 years old the morning he died, the 18th. He was the son of Samuel and Adeline Simmons and was born in Butler county. He has resided in Prattville for 60 years. He was a Confederate veteran. He was never married.
The remains were interred at ten o'clock yesterday morning in Oak Hill cemetery, Dr. Jas. M. Graham officiating. The deceased leaves many friends to mourn his death.
