He married Carla Meier, who survives of the home in Blanchard.
He graduated from Quitman High School and served with the United State Army.
He is also survived by two sons, Allen Race, Clarinda, Iowa, and Jay A. Race, of the home in Blanchard; one daughter, Lisa Horning-Race, Bedford, Iowa; one brother, Harley Race, Lake Ozark, Mo.; four sisters, Nadine Clark, Burlington Junction, Mo.; Marilyn Hiatt, Bedord, Carolyn Zirfas, Merriam Woods, Mo., and Linda Race, Corning, Mo; three grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held on Dec. 9, 1999, at Quitman Cemetery, Quitman, Mo.
Burial: Quitman Cemetery, Quitman, Mo.
