Louise G. Erekson, 90, of Billings, passed away peacefully on Sept. 21, 2014. She was born on July 30, 1924, in Dixon, Illinois, the oldest child of James T. and Myrtle (Lowery) Greer.

Her family later moved to Aurora, Illinois, where Louise grew up and met her husband, Robert L. "Bob" Erekson, a Utah boy who was stationed at a nearby army base. They were married on June 22, 1942, in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Between September 1943 and November 1969, Louise became the mother of one daughter and nine sons.

Her family moved to Billings in July 1968 where Louise continued to be an active member of the LDS Church, holding various positions of leadership and service over the years. She was also active in community organizations and was a charter member and later president of both the Yellowstone Genealogy Forum and Landmarks, a Bicentennial women's club dedicated to the beautification of Billings.

She was also a member of the Miniature Art Club of Billings for many years. Even as a child she was recognized for her artistic talent; in later years her specialty was painting miniature watercolor roses.

Louise enjoyed a life-long interest in family history research.

She and Bob spent many happy years gathering information, publishing family history books, and teaching others how to research.

Louise G. Erekson is preceded in death by her husband and grandson Jonathan.

The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday evening at the Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary and on Saturday morning at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2929 Belvedere drive.

Interment will follow at Rockvale Cemetery, Rockvale, MT.

Memorials may be made to the Yellowstone Genealogy Forum, Billings.
