Hope Yon Diffenbaugh, 88, passed away Dec. 18, 2009.

Hope was born in Florida.

She retired from the Norfolk Public School System as a teacher. She was a devoted wife, mother and an exceptional teacher. She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church.

Survivors include children, Toni D. Anderson, Andrew P. (Nancy) Diffenbaugh, Alma D. (Kerry) Jordan, Jonathan G. (Debby) Diffenbaugh; grandchildren, Andrew Anderson, David Anderson, Ann Peyton, Elizabeth Diffenbaugh, Christopher Jordan, Richard Jordan, Tony Diffenbaugh, Gretchen Diffenbaugh and Ethan Diffenbaugh; great-grandchildren, Alex and Joshua; and sister, Patsy A. Warinner.

Preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Anthony G. Diffenbaugh.

A celebration of life will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church by the Rev. John M. Eidam. Interment will follow at Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Strelitz Diabetes, Institutes Foundation, P.O. Box 1980, Norfolk, VA 23501.
