David Francis Duggan passed away Feb. 17, 2011, quietly in his sleep of natural causes.

He was the son of the Elizabeth A. and Thomas P. Duggan of Richmond, Va., and the husband of Marinelle [Green] Duggan (1925-1974) and Edith [Finneran] Duggan (1943-2007).

Survived by his children, Thomas Duggan II, Elizabeth Duggan and Patrice [Duggan] Samuels; his grandchildren, Caitlin, Patrick, Charles, Sophie and Ruby; and his beloved standard poodle Pierre.

David was born May 31, 1925 in Richmond, Va. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Richmond in 1954, after serving as an officer in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean conflict. He worked in the home building supply, psychological testing, and real estate finance industries. He worked in executive positions with United Mortgagee Services Corporation in Norfolk, Psychological Consultants of Richmond, and with Multi-Family Mortgage Corporation in Virginia Beach.

An informal memorial gathering will be held at the No Frill Bar and Grill, 1620 Laskin Road, Virginia Beach at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Court Appointed Special Advocate Program, founded by the late Edith F. Duggan for abused and neglected children in Virginia Beach.
