Bruce was an outstanding athlete. He was All State in high school baseball in 1979/1980 and drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 1980, playing a two years as a second and third baseman. Bruce spent six seasons as a scout for the San Diego and Pittsburgh baseball organizations prior to joining the Milwaukee Brewers as an amateur scout in 1997. He was promoted to Director of Amateur Scouting in 2008. Bruce was influential in drafting many successful major league players.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 11 years, Erika Seid; mother Mersha "Mitzi" Seid; brothers Rick (Vicki) Seid and Lee Seid; and nephews Josh, Zach, Alex and Blaize.
