James H. Dolby Sr., 83, of 122 Mabon St., Brookville, died Sunday, October 19, 2003, at his home.
Born July 17, 1920, in Strattanville, he was the son of Charles I. and Elizabeth Walter (sic: Anthony) Dolby. Mr. Dolby retired from Conrail Railroad where he worked as a laborer and trackman. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 983 and the Brookville Fireman's Club.
Mr. Dolby was married in Clarion May 19, 1945, to Lorna B. Ace, who survives. Also surviving are a son, James H. Dolby Jr. of Sigel; four daughters, June Guthrie of Lake Lucy, Carol Lockwood of Brockway, Betty Falkoner of Oil City and Peggy Baughman of Summerville; 20 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He also is survived by a brother, Donald Dolby of Pittsburgh.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Dolby was preceded in death by a daughter, Hazel Smith; one stepson, Marvin Ace; a sister, Ruth Ferris; three brothers, Lloyd Dolby, Harry Dolby and Ed Dolby; and one stepbrother, Orren Walter. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday in the McKinney Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Harry Orris officiating. Interment will be in Cedarview Memorial Park, Strattanville. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
