Mrs. Susannah T. Morris, a resident of El Dorado Springs for over thirty years and one of the city's best known and most highly esteemed women, died last Sunday night at her home, 211 Hickory Street. She had been critically ill for weeks and her death was not unexpected.

Mrs. Morris, whose maiden name was Susannah Taylor Briscoe, was born July 4, 1859, at Bunceton, Missouri and was over 82 years old. In 1877, when she was 18 years old, she moved with her parents from Cooper County to Bates County, where in 1878 she was married to Braxton Cox and to them was born one son, Samuel Braxton Cox, now living in Canutillo, Texas.

In 1881 she was united in marriage to George H. Morris and to this union were born five children, Carl Q. Morris of the home, Olive May Bradley and George H. Morris of Kansas City; Mary Lelia Bradford of Napton, Missouri; and Zola Pearl, who died when she was four years old.

In 1899 she was married to Edward Morris and they were parents of one daughter, Hazel Esther Elder, of El Dorado Springs.

Besides her children, she leaves two step-sons, Clarence Morris of Foster, Missouri; and Andrew Morris of Denver, Colorado; two brothers, Logan Briscoe of Rich Hill, Missouri and William Briscoe of Foster, Missouri. Surviving grandchildren are Susan Cordy, Marshall, Missouri; Charles Bradford, Napton, Missouri and Donald Elder of the home address.

In 1907, Mrs. Morris moved with her family from Foster to El Dorado Springs and remained a continuous resident of this city until her death. She was an indulgent mother, generous and sympathetic with all whom she came in contact, and her death, therefore, is a distinct loss to her children and wide circle of friends.
