Malcolm D. "Mack" Burford, 82, of Oak Ridge, died early Thursday morning, September 4, 2014, at Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sligo.

Born May 27, 1932, in Climax, he was the son of Albert Roy and Florence Bell (Hetrick) Burford.

Mr. Burford married N. Dawn Painter on July 9, 1956. She survives.

He worked for Pullman Standard. He served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Burford was a member of the VFW in New Bethlehem, as well as the First Church of God in New Bethlehem.

In addition to his wife, survivors include five sons, Greg Painter and his wife, Sara, of High Point, N.C., Randy Burford of Oak Ridge, Rick Burford and his wife, Tammy, of Oak Ridge, Rod Burford of New Bethlehem, and Rob Burford and his wife, Bonnie, of Connellsville; one daughter, Shari Reed of New Bethlehem; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Kay Hepler and her husband, Gale, of Oak Ridge; and one brother, Neal Burford and his wife, Clydine, of Oak Ridge.

In addition to both parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Ethel Horne, Alva Neiswonger and Anna Mae Evans; and five brothers, Cleo "Jock," Warren, Tom, Wilmer "Bill," and Paul Burford.

Mr. Burford's request was to be cremated, and there will be no public services.

Interment will be held in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mahoning Township, Armstrong County.

The Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn is handling the arrangements.
