Willa Ann Sleyster, 59, of Harrisonville, Missouri died Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospice House. Memorial services were August 23 at Crittenton Children's Center. Willa was born in Kansas City, the daughter of Willard & Dora Ann Clark Sleyster.
Willa graduated from Drexel High School in Drexel, Missouri in 1972. She completed two years of college at Southwest Baptist College and Longview Community College, focusing on psychology and business.
Willa was a behavior therapist at Truman Neurological Center and The Greater KC Foundation programs. She worked in inpatient and in-home treatment through the KC Regional Center. She supervised and transported patients at both Southeast KC and Cass County Sheltered Workshops. She was assistant director for HOME and LIFE group homes for 12 years. She and her staff took residents on vacations. She loved coaching in Special Olympics.
