Ethel Amanda Bumgarner, 85, of Lynchburg, passed away Monday, September 1, 2014, at Avante' at Lynchburg after an extended illness. She was the wife of the late Maynard O. Bumgarner. Born May 10, 1929, in Boone, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Roscoe S. Perry and Ella Fletcher Perry. She was a member of Clearview Baptist Church and was retired from Alco Siding Company and a homemaker. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Staples, Cathy Payne (Eugene) and Deborah Haley (Larry); seven grandchildren, Artie Payne, Lydia Davis, Camden Wood, Patrick Johnson, David Haley and Kevin Haley; six great-grandchildren, Matthew Johnson, Lexi Payne, Abbey Rose Payne, Jake Payne, Dylan Payne and Laney Payne. A graveside service will be held Friday, September 5, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Clearview Baptist Church Cemetery on Sunnymeade Road with Pastor Zane Kramer officiating. No visitation is scheduled.
