YORKTOWN - Robert F. Adams, 95, passed away Monday morning, September 1, 2014 at his home.
He was born November 8, 1918 in Muncie, the son of Edward H. and Bessie J. (Kirby) Adams.
He graduated from Cowan High School in 1937. On September 12, 1941 in Muncie, he married Clarissa M. Gindhart.
Robert worked for Warner Gear for forty-three years until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite for over fifty years and was also a member of the Elks #245. He enjoyed working on clocks.
Survivors include his wife of seventy-two years, Clarissa M. Adams of Yorktown; two daughters, Barbara J. Fourthman of Muncie and Jane A. Goddard (partner, Gene Phillips) of Anderson; four grandchildren, Connie Jo Gill Hawkins (husband, Shane) of Austin, TX, Melinda K. Gill Maronic (husband, Daryl) of Baltimore, MD, Stacey L. Swingley Beeson of Fishers and Robin R. Swingley Gulley of Selma; six great-grandchildren, Brandon Beeson, Kaeli Gulley, Ben and Quinn Maronic, Chase and Blake Hawkins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Scott A. Swingley; two half-brothers, Ralph Adams and Virgil Adams; and a half-sister, Mildred Taylor.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2014 at The Meeks Mortuary, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Road with Pastor Rusty Clements officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, north of Muncie.
