WELL-KNOWN PIONEER CITIZEN DIED TODAY
Andrew J. Cherry Passed Away This Morning
At The Home Of His Son, Martin A. Cherry-
Had Reached The Advanced Age Of Eighty-Six-
Had Resided In This County Since He Was Two Years Old

Andrew J. Cherry, a well known and highly respected resident of this county, died at the home of his son, Martin A. Cherry, of Hendricks township, at four o'clock this morning. His death was due to senility. He has been seriously ill for some time.

He leaves to mourn his loss, one sister, Mrs. Mary Amos, of Shelby township; three brothers Eli, Jesse and Thomas Cherry, all of this county, and the following children: James L. Cherry and Martin A. Cherry, of Hendricks township; Harvey S. Cherry, Franklin L. Cherry, Mrs. Phoebe Drager and Mrs. Mary F. Drager, of Shelby township, and Mrs. Cynthia A. Jones, of Indianapolis.

Mr. Cherry was born in Franklin county, Indiana, November 6, 1822. When he two years of age, his father moved to Shelby county, being among our first settlers. For fifty-five years, A.J. Cherry resided on the Cherry homestead in Shelby township.

He was a devout Christian, being a faithful and earnest member of the Pleasant Grove Christian Church. The funeral services will be held at the First Christian Church in this city at three o'clock in the afternoon of Sunday, July 4. The Rev. Mr. Burkhart, assisted by the Rev. J.P. Myers, will officiate. Interment will take place in the Forest Hill cemetery. Edwards & Hageman are in charge of the arrangements for the funeral.
