Born in Henderson, North Carolina on February 22, 1926, he attended the University of North Carolina. A Navy man from the tender age of 17, he enlisted in the war effort during World War II to protect the country and people he loved.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 64 years, soul mate and constant companion, Mary Frances Seaman. His loving children, Teresa Jalbert and husband Lew, Jacque Duncan, Carol Young and husband Eddie, John Andrew Seaman III (Andy) and wife Barbara. His grandchildren include Tommy Duncan, Alison Cattie and husband Mark, Jason Gorfine and wife Sarah, Trey Jalbert, Renee, Rachel and Jeanine Seaman and Amelia Young. Great grandchildren include Beatrice, Marty and Reagan. He was blessed in the last year of his life with a second, Mary Frances (Franny) Jones, his loving care partner.
Thanks go to his long time physician, Dr. Don Conaway and his end of life compassionate nurses and physicians.
Accomplishments include being an aviator and educator and miraculously surviving his position as Avenger tail seat gunner in the South Pacific. He was the owner and founder of John's TV on North Lynnhaven Road.
A Shriner and a 50 year member of the Lynnhaven Masonic Lodge; Charter Member, former Trustee, Deacon and Treasurer of King's Grant Baptist Church; Princess Anne Investment Club; Virginia Beach Auxiliary Police and Virginia Electronics Association. He loved coaching his Lynnhaven Baseball Teams and was a loyal Washington Redskins fan. He will be missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday at King Grant Baptist Church with Rev. Skip Wallace officiating. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
