John Leonard Smolnisky
John Leonard Smolnsky passed away August 15, 2014. John was born May 27, 1924 in Leola, South Dakota where he lived until moving to Oregon in 1955. He worked in the lumber industry and was a carpenter/sawyer.
An avid baseball fan, he followed the St. Louis Cardinals and Seattle Mariners. He looked forward to football season to watch the Green Bay Packers and the Oregon Ducks.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Deloris Schumacher Smolnisky. They have two children: Bruce Smolnisky (Shelly) and Mary Ellen Woods (Lynn). His two granddaughters, Amanda Croteau and Leah Woods will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Leo, Elmer, Ralph and one sister Ruth Schumacher. He is also survived by three sisters Evelyn Ringsby, Kathleen Robinson and Mary Ann Peters.
A private gathering is scheduled for Friday, August 22, with a public reception to follow at Central Lutheran Church, 2:00.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Oregon Heart and Vascular Institute at Riverbend Hospital. Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary. Please sign the guestbook at musgroves.com
