Rex Nelson Main, 98, of Ash, NC died peacefully, Tuesday, August 19, 2014 in the SECU Lower Cape Hear Hospice Care Center, Bolivia, NC. Born in Stokesbury, MO on December 10, 1915, he was one of eleven children of Benjamin Arthur and Bessie Elizabeth White Main. He was a retired farmer and was a US Army veteran having served in WWII in the European theater. Mr. Main was baptized in January of 1955 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, he will be remembered for his loyalty and dedication to his faith; as well as his ability to bake the best sour cream pound cake in North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his wife Lennie N. Smith Main, a son-in-law Richard Guin, a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Sager and he was the last of his siblings. Survivors include his son, Robert Rex Main and wife Mary of Leland, NC; a daughter, Judy Carol Main Guin of Laurinburg, NC; grandchildren, Dana Randolph, Lara Green, Rebecca Main, Daniel Guin, Tanya Cunningham, Michael Cunningham; fourteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 23, 2014 in the Chapel of Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte by Elder Harvey Gene Clifton, Jr. Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery, Ash, NC.
