Freddie Bittenbender, son of John W. and Christina bittenbender, was born September 5,1884 and died Saturday. October 14,1893, at aged 9 years 1 month and 9 days.
Little Freddie was taken with diphtheria and after suffering for thirty-four hours for breath, with occasional easy spells for a few moments at a time, he passed away. during his easy spells he would tell his Mamma he was getting better, and would say "don't you see me breath" and would be delighted. In his long suffering he made no complaint nor shed a tear, but bore it patiently but would say, I can hardly get my breath." He loved all his nurses and frequently placed his arms about them and patted them with his dear little hand. When his voice was silent he had faith in his doctor and called him twice, and after the second calling, he said to his mother," I don't believe the doctor can make me well this time." He was conscious up to about ten minutes before he died, when life departed quietly
