An extensive biography will appear here soon for this beautiful and extraordinary woman. In the meantime let it suffice to say Mrs. Schaller influenced many in PHS Class of 1959 as they were growing up.

Earlier in her life, she worked as a Probate Register for Probate Judge John Murphy, and served as an executive director on many on-going community projects. She married Paul Vernon in 1997. Together they worked on many church and community projects and enjoyed life.

Doris served the community in countless ways: Camp Daggett, Keenagers, Don’t Waste Michigan, President of the Little Traverse Historical Society, and the Petoskey Garden Club. She had been the church organist and a Sunday School teacher at the First Christian Church, and a Cub Scout Den Mother. Throughout her life she continually took classes as North Central College, and continued to serve and function as an integral and enthusiastic part of the community and the Petoskey News-Review.

Doris husband Albert, her daughter Karen, and her son, Kirk, preceded her in death. She was survived by her husband, her son, and his wife, grand-children, great-grandchildren, step-children, and many friends.

The Greenwood Site has her listed as: Schaller, Doris Gladys (Fredrickson) )(Vernon)

Doris’s obituary can be read at the Greenwood Cemetery Genealogical Website in Petoskey: http://www.gwood.us/
