Her husband was Iredell Burnett, a veteran of the War of 1812. In her last years, Celia begged for a widow's pension but was unable to supply proof that she was ever married to Burnett. Very sad story which explains why she was destitute in old age.

Iredell served as a Private in Capt Horatio Dade's Co NC Militia during the War of 1812. He also served as a Private with Major Tisdale's Command, NC Militia 1812-1815.
