Nellie Elizabeth Middaugh was born in Colfax, Washington, the daughter of George and IsaDora (Manion) Middaugh. She received her education in the local schools of Whitman County.
Nellie married Colfax resident, Joseph Thompson Baker, on June 28, 1914 in Colfax. Joseph worked for the Colfax Gazette newspaper. They had four children born here: Eva Mae (1916), Sina Louise (1917), Howard Clay (1920)and Josephine (1923) Baker.
In 1935 the Baker family relocated permanently to Port Angeles, Washington where Joseph worked for the Crown Zellerback company. They were members of the First Methodist Church of Port Angeles. Nellie was also very active in the V.F.W. Auxilliary.
Nellie was a good homemaker and very active in her church. At various times Nellie worked in Port Angeles for the Olympic Laundry, the Estes Grocery and the Grandview Grocery.
Died at age 85 years, 8 months, 13 days.
